Downtown Becomes a Giant Art Gallery

With the recent unveiling of Jaume Plensa’s eerie new sculpture, Wonderland, in the plaza of The Bow office tower, the City of Calgary’s news blog states the Canadian oil capital has joined the ranks of London, Chicago, Dubai and Tokyo as being home to an artwork by one of the world’s foremost sculptors.

Wonderland is a bent-wire portrait of a young girl's head that stands about 12 metres high.

It's the first of two works by the Spanish artist on The Bow’s plaza. The second will be a bronze titled Alberta's Dream.

Wonderland has been well received and looks great when lit at night, adding a bit more cool factor to downtown Calgary.
